Nant Gwrtheyrn or “the Nant” as it is often called, is home to the National Welsh Language and Heritage Centre, and is a magical place located in a former quarrying village on the northern coast of the Llŷn Peninsula about 15 minutes drive from Swn Y Mor Holiday Park.
This secluded Victorian village has undergone a £5m renovation in recent years which included construction of a new access road and the addition of a new weddings and conference centre as well as the provision of 4* accommodation for up to 120 guests. Nant Gwrtheyrn now attracts over 30,000 visitors a year and a range of residential groups.
Park the car and descend the hill past the old quarry workings to the beach. Dolphins and seals are regularly spotted in the bay so keep your eyes peeled, or you could just sit on the cafe balcony and wait for them to swim past!
After climbing the hill back up to the cafe you will have earned a yummy cake or homemade soup. We recommend the Welsh Rabbit and cream and jam scones!
